![]() ![]() Later in the evening, we had dinner at the Loft restaurant where our waiter, Sean, provided exceptional service. The ocean view was pretty much indescribable, and it took my breath away. The room was spectacular, from the well-equipped bathroom to the inviting living room and quiet, luxurious bedroom. Our bags were delivered soon after by Johnny, yet another polite and informed staff member, who opened our bottle of wine that was waiting for us and made sure that we knew that he was there to help us throughout our stay should we need him. We were first escorted to our room by a pleasant staff member who made sure we were well informed about our accommodations as well as the facility and all it had to offer. The service was exceptional from the moment we arrived. ![]() My husband and I were lucky enough to stay in a suite at Montage Laguna and were thrilled with our entire stay. Probably something that could easily be fixed, or is it a “thing” for waiters in finer establishments not to write your order in a little notebook? All in all, very happy we spent our Christmas at MLB, and would consider returning one day, but have to be a little concerned that the place maybe a bit of a mad-house in summer.… Everything was corrected without fuss, but it got to the point where we had to laugh about it. Invariably every meal there was some sort of minor error in what was brought to the table. One oddity, and I would file this under nitpicking, was that at nearly every meal, including snacks at the Mosaic, the wait staff didn’t write our orders down, but relied on their memories. The next night it reverted to the normal menu, and we both enjoyed our dinner selections that cost about half the dinner the night before, but was far superior in our opinion. Christmas Eve dinner was a set menu of four courses with a choice of two items for each course and a fixed cost, which seemed a bit outrageous at $195 each, especially as we found the food a little underwhelming. Ate both mornings for breakfast (which was good) and for dinner at The Loft. One of the guys working there was telling us it is pretty manic in the summer, with waiting list to get a poolside lounger. Not sure if you were supposed to have used the Spa to use this facility, we didn’t and nobody seemed to mind us being there. We spent a day sitting out by the Spa Pool which was supper enjoyable and were waited on wonderfully by the guys serving the guest every need. I suspect it could get a little warm out there in the summer months, and was a little chilly sitting there over this Christmas (well for this spoilt Californian anyway!). We were a little surprised that the Mosaic Bar and Grill was 100% outdoor seating. There are amazing ocean and coastline views are all around you, especially from the public footpath that fronts the property. Grounds are immaculate as are outdoor furnishings and amenities around the two pools. The whole complex does come across as a little cramped… a lot has been shoehorned on to the plot of land, but all tastefully done. Room was of the highest quality and design, with an ultra-modern bright and airy feel, if not a tad on the small side. First impressions were all positive with welcoming staff (valet, bellhop and front desk). Just returned after spending a few nights over the Christmas period at MLB.
